At The Sanctuary

A small group, three weeks off the road.

Five Elements Wisdom Academy runs this training on our bay. You live and learn here with about 15 to 20 students. No roads, no cars. Practice halls sit in the jungle above the beach.

The course joins Yin Yoga with the Five Elements and Chinese Medicine. Chinese Medicine here is taught as a traditional educational framework for practice and teaching. It is not a medical course and we are not a medical facility.

Marcela leads Yin Yoga and teaching method. Tobias leads Chinese Medicine and Five Elements work. Guest teachers join for specific sessions.

  • 150 hours across Level 1 (100 hours) and Level 2 (50 hours)
  • Levels can be taken together or separately
  • Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP) programme for registered teachers who need continuing education hours
  • On completion of the hours you attend, Five Elements Wisdom Academy awards its 5 Elements Yin Yoga Teacher certificate

How they teach

Five Elements as a working method, not a fixed script.

Marcela and Tobias built this method over years of teaching. The Elements are treated as a living system you learn to feel and apply, not a list of meridians to memorise.

For teaching

How you theme a class, choose and sequence postures, set the room, and shape an elemental journey with a clear intention.

For your own practice

Tools to build a Yin practice that answers what is happening in your life, a change of season, grief, overload or a big transition.

Chinese Face Reading

A distinctive thread in the course. Observation of elemental patterns in the face, taught in the lineage of Lillian Pearl Bridges. Tobias trained with her in person.

Embodied study

Yin Yoga, meditation, Qi Gong, breathwork and somatic work sit beside the theory, so the Elements are felt as well as studied.

The 150-hour journey

Two levels. One continuous immersion.

The full training runs Level 1 and Level 2 back to back. You can also take each level on its own. Level 1 with this academy is required before Level 2.

Level 1 · 100 hours

Foundations

Yin Yoga, Chinese Medicine foundations and the Five Elements. Yin and Yang, Qi, meridians, asana and posture clinics, teaching method, meditation, pranayama, Medical Qi Gong, Chinese Face Reading and embodied practice.

A core focus is how to work with the Five Elements inside Yin Yoga so you can build intentional practices, not only follow a set sequence.

IncludesYin Yoga · Chinese Medicine · Five Elements · Yin & Yang · Meridians · Asana & posture clinics · Teaching methodology · Meditation · Pranayama · Medical Qi Gong · Chinese Face Reading · Embodied practice

Level 2 · 50 hours

Going deeper

More complex Five Element applications, trauma-informed practice, nervous system awareness, somatic tools, advanced sequencing, Feng Shui, Medical Qi Gong and self-inquiry.

Sequencing moves from arranging poses to working with the energetic arc of a whole class, Yin to Yang or Yang back to Yin, in service of a clear intention.

IncludesAdvanced Five Element applications · Trauma-informed practice · Nervous system awareness · Somatic practices · Advanced sequencing · Feng Shui · Medical Qi Gong · Self-inquiry & embodied practice

Taking both levels in one stay lets the material settle over three weeks. Some students do one level first and return later for the other.

Toolkit

What you leave with.
